Meet our owners
Shaun Thompson
Shaun Thompson alongside his sister, Laura Thompson both have a Bachelor of Education Degree and are experienced teachers, who have a passion for Early Childhood Education. They work in the centre daily, always ensuring the absolute highest level of care and education for every child.
Shaun Thomspon has over 15 years’ experience in Early Childhood Education, having previously worked in childcare centres. Shaun previously worked at Brisbane Boys’ College for 12 years as a Prep-Year 2 teacher. He has years of management and leadership experience, including being the Head of Expressive Arts at Brisbane Boys’ College leading over 20 staff, being Acting Head of Brisbane Boys’ College (Early Years) and achieving Highly Accomplished Teacher status after a rigorous process.
Laura Thompson
Laura Thompson has over 18 years’ experience as an Early Childhood teacher in the local Mt Samson community, having taught at both Ferny Grove and Samford State Schools.
She’s been involved in leading various community projects involving literacy, the Arts and Prep Playspaces. Having 3 young children herself, who have all attended childcare in various formats (Family Day Care/Kindy and LDC Centres) she is well versed in the various aspects of juggling the demands of a young family and work. Laura has been the President of the Willmore C&K and highly involved in creating and maintaining a community culture within a centre that is inclusive, dynamic and passionate about fostering Early Learning. Through this role, Laura has developed knowledge of how the governing bodies operate within a childcare setting. Spending years employed in a high quality 135 place Outside Hours School Service has allowed Laura exposure to various policies, procedures, marketing, software, staffing and legislative requirements. This transferable knowledgeable skill set will be an asset whilst overseeing the operational aspects of Rosie’s Early Learning.
Shaun and Laura value building meaningful relationships with the children, families and staff at Rosie’s that are underpinned by the common goal for quality education and care.

Makaela Meikle
Makaela is extremely passionate about Early Childhood Education and has worked at Rosie’s for almost 10 years. She has experience with children of all ages (and has two beautiful children of her own). Makaela’s wide range of skills doesn’t go unnoticed and this time last year, she was offered a position as Centre Manager, which she took on board and has been thriving ever since.
Makaela has a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and is currently taking a break from studying a Bachelor of Education so she can find some work life balance and continue giving her all to Rosie’s and the broader community.
The children at Rosie’s adore Makaela, and she is the 1st face they will search for when they come in each morning
Sereen Kabbara
Sereen has over 10 years experience in Early Childhood Education as that is where her passion lies. She has experience in other Childcare Centre’s as well as a 400 place OSHC as an Assistant Manager before discovering Rosie’s Early Learning and making her way over to continue pursuing her leadership skills.
Sereen has a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and is currently studying a Certificate in Child Psychology to better understand how brains work and in turn using that knowledge to support our little ones at Rosie’s and the broader Rosie’s community.
Sereen enjoys the balance of working closely with the children, families and staff, as well as collaborating with Shaun and Makaela to work on the important behind the scenes tasks which keep Rosie’s running.
Mount Samson Educators
Chrissy
My name is Chrissy and I am proud to be the Director here at Rosie’s – Mount Samson.
After being a private nanny for 16 years, I began my journey at this centre in July 2020 working 1 day a week in the kitchen. I have worked my way through many roles and have come to learn I enjoy both the early years learning education and care as well as a leading a team of creative and caring educators.
My goal is to create a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where children can explore and learn though play. I want to empower children to love learning, as it sets the stage for a lifetime of curiosity, exploration, and enjoyment.
I have a strong connection with this community and I am passionate about making our centre the best it can be.
I value the importance of building strong relationships with children and their families where they feel supported and connected.
We are a family here at Rosie’s – Mount Samson and I look forward to welcoming you into this wonderful family.
